It’s been a significant six months for U+I, since the company was ‘reborn’ in the form we know it by today.
Rewind to November 2015, when two very different companies – Development Securities and Cathedral Group - merged together under one name and one aim. Combining creativity, imagination underpinned by expert management of finance and risk, U+I aims for nothing less than to change the game in the property business. We are driven by our vision to create huge, long-lasting social and economic change for the communities in which we build, and sustainable value for our shareholders.
The first six months have been a busy period for U+I with two major new projects at Albert Embankment and Cockpit Yard, and there is much more to come. To support the continued growth and evolution of U+I, we recently announced the creation of an Executive Committee (ExCo) who will be responsible for delivering our business ambitions day-to-day.
Meet the team
Simon Hesketh – ExCo Director, Regeneration
Simon joined former Development Securities in 1997. Originally focusing on the company’s major office-led development portfolio, Simon is now responsible for the delivery of all of U+I’s regeneration projects including its public private partnership projects - a hugely important aspect for U+I’s current and future direction.
Brenda Bates – ExCo Director, Communications and Business Services
Brenda joins U+I in May 2016 and will lead our communications, marketing, HR and office teams, playing a key role in U+I’s growing business and brand. Brenda brings significant and broad senior level experience, most recently from her role as Managing Director of Corporate Communications and Market Intelligence at the World Gold Council.
Laurence Martin – ExCo Director, Mixed Use
Complementing U+I’s focus on large mixed-use regeneration projects, Laurence Martin will be responsible for the company’s pipeline of short to medium-term projects and land acquisition opportunities. Laurence has been with U+I (former Development Securities) since 2004.
Bradley Cassels – ExCo Director, Investment
Since joining former Development Securities in 2004, Bradley has been a core member of the investment team focusing on commercial investment opportunities. Bradley oversees U+I’s £200 million investment portfolio, a significant part of the company’s net asset value.
James Bishop – ExCo Director, New Business (PPP)
James was previously Head of New Business at Cathedral Group and has significant experience of securing public private partnership (PPP) projects including The Deptford Project, The Movement and most recently, Cockpit Yard. He’ll primarily be responsible for securing projects in partnership with public bodies, a core area of U+I’s expertise.
The formidable ExCo team will be responsible for the day to day implementation of the company’s business plan, positioning us for our next phase of growth. Judging by the positive trajectory of U+I’s journey so far, the future is looking very bright indeed.
