Making it happen at the Central Research Lab

Ta Dah! Summer is over and the inaugural year of the Central Research Laboratory (CRL) in Hayes has begun. The new pilot hardware incubator space is open and our first 11 start-up businesses are installed.

They gathered in the new space – formerly the EMI exhibition in the gallery at The Old Vinyl Factory – for an introduction to all things CRL led by James and Ashley and the rest of the team who will run the project (including Community Manager Erica, pictured).

The mainly hardware start-ups will now undertake a 12 month programme which will help them bring their products into the market. The CRL provide mentors, business support, workshop space, prototyping facilities, and investment opportunities.

With products ranging from sub-aquatic drones made to rediscover the depths of the sea to the development of a robotic hand for virtual reality and healthcare applications, we couldn’t be more excited for the future of the Central Research Laboratory.
